CLOCKS ⏰️

Image
1 earth rotation = 1 day/broken into 24 segments of sun and moon positions in the sky. 1 full moon cycle = roughly 1 month/28 days. 7 days = 1 week, a noticeably different moon segment in its rotation. We break it into 4 (full, 3 quarter, half, quarter) 1 lap around the sun = 1 year/365 days/13 moon cycles/4 seasons. These are examples of natural clocks short enough for us humans to observe, acknowledge and it forms the basis of our concept of time. We need it to predict, order ourselves and estimate how much time we might have left. Farmers need to know what to do when and they depend on these clocks so that there could be food year round. Nomadic groups needed to know when to move to follow the water and greener pastures.  We understand a decade is ten years. A century is a hundred years and a millennium is a thousand years, none of us will ever see in one lifetime from beginning to end. But these are artificial measurements of time. They are not natural clocks like the day, mont...

DON'T LOSE THE PLOT

Image
Every so often revolution is necessary. When power becomes too concentrated at the top (exactly the end goal of capitalism) and exploits, restricts and abuses whatever is below it in the social hierarchy, a reset is in order. Calling things as they are: capitalism is the biggest pyramid scheme there is, the church is the biggest cult there is, racism is a cancer within humanity, schools are programming facilities for compliant worker bees, news and media is largely propaganda of the state narrative. Those who do not travel do not know that they are living within a contained Truman Show reality like caged chickens feeding the beast of oligarchs. Chickens lay eggs all their lives and then become poultry. The roosters breed them then become poultry too. The cows are milked all their lives and then become beef. The bulls breed them and then become beef too. Their lives are not for them to live. But the human farm animals are waking up to this and they outnumber the farmers by far. Once you...

UNDERSTANDING THE COMPLEXITIES OF BLACK AMERICAN PATRIOTISM

Image
If you truly understood the history of this nation, you should be wondering why Black people don't hate this nation and haven't left in droves at the close of the Civil War. A part of it is feeling trapped. I takes money to get out. And go where exactly? A lot of us haven't been exposed to whatever else is out there for us to compare with. Is there really an escape anywhere from fascism and corruption now for a lifestyle we're familiar and comfortable with? Dramatically changing your environment and entire way of life, is a huge, consequential and scary decision to make before the diligent work of implementing it. You've got to get to a level of fed up. And so comfort, ignorance, lack of resources and fear traps a lot of us just like many in abusive marriages. Another part of it is holding out for what we are due after 246 years of stolen labor, lives and humanity upon which our national economy could never have established itself without it. Add on 100 more years o...

THE ANCESTRY AND CAUSE OF NEO SOUL

Image
THE ANCESTRY AND CAUSE OF NEO SOUL  Neo Soul is the Gen-X interpretation of Soul with its own personality and stories differing from Classic Soul (1954 -1979). Classic Soul is very much the sound of the Black human experiences of the Deep South during The Civil Rights Era. You hear in it, protest, hope, romance, heartbreak, struggle, pain, anger, joy, worry, faith and redemption. Also in it, the voices of women are rising to tell their stories and declare their autonomy and struggles with men. Aretha Franklin and Etta James enter the chat more defiant and outspoken than their more docile and graceful musical foremothers in the Blues and Jazz genre. RnB (Rhythm & Blues) is what happened when blues artists collaborated with big band jazz and the tempo, beat, and cadence became just as an important feature as the emotional interpretations of the vocalist. More fast tempo meant for dancing and fun with a party and festive energy gave birth to Rock music (Little Richard). Mor...
